Research and Development Council of New Jersey
Anthony S. Cicatiello President Supports advancement of research and development in NJ, lead organization supporting development and fundraising for Liberty Science Center opened 1992 in Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Members include representatives from academia, government and industry. Recognizes most innovative patents in NJ through Thomas Alva Edison Patent Awards; sponsors STEM education program awarding scholarships to students in STEM related fields; holds forums for exchange of information among members including allocation of resources and management for research and technical activities; analyzes legislative, regulatory, and administrative proposals. Kevin Hart Executive Director Founded 1955 as Chemical Industry Council of New Jersey as unit of NJ Chamber of Commerce, spun off 1985 as independent organization, changed to current name in 2001. Represents some 75 NJ manufacturers in business of chemistry. Total industry accounts for 50,000 jobs in NJ, 3rd highest of all states. Issues include air and water quality regulations, toxic chemical regulation and cleanup; utility rates. Affiliated foundation promotes science, technology, engineering, and math education through teacher workshops, student poster and essay contests. David Harris President Formerly NJ Pharmaceutical Discussion Group, began in 1950s as forum for pharmaceutical scientists in Northern NJ. New Jersey Technology & Manufacturing Association Tom Kohler Board President Incorporated 1945 as New Jersey Tooling and Manufacturing Association by small group of manufacturing companies, name changed 2014 to The New Jersey Technology & Manufacturing Association. Over 100 members primarily engaged in manufacturing parts or products in metalworking trades, as well as those professional or industrial businesses or suppliers to manufacturing industry. Provides information, education and networking events and resources, represents interests of member companies on legislative and regulatory issues; offers discount purchasing programs; and serves as clearing house for exchange of ideas.
