In 1909, NJ Legislature authorized school to grant Bachelor of Arts degree in addition to a Bachelor of Divinity and in 1913 German Theological Seminary changed its name to Bloomfield Theological Seminary. After World War I, received approval for a four-year program, school’s name changed to Bloomfield College and Seminary and in 1961 to Bloomfield College. Located 7 miles from Newark, 15 miles from NY City, 11-acre campus.
Named in report by American Council on Education as one of only five predominantly black institutions with a “high extended mobility rate” in percentage of students coming from low-income backgrounds who after graduation earn high incomes improving economic status. Most popular programs business; visual and performing arts; social science; medical and health-related professions. |
